About us
Consumer Justice Foundation
Improving access to justice for consumers and small businesses across the Netherlands and the EU.
Consumer Justice Foundation is an independent Dutch non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the collective interests of consumers and small businesses in the Netherlands and throughout the European Union.
Our purpose
Consumer Justice Foundation protects consumers against unfair and unlawful business practices. We take action against companies and organizations that mislead consumers, abuse their market position or violate consumer rights.
Collective actions & legal measures
Through collective actions and other legal measures under Dutch, European and international law, we help consumers seek accountability and compensation.
Research & public awareness
In addition to legal action, we work to strengthen consumer protection through research, public awareness, policy engagement and cooperation with consumer organizations and public authorities.
The board
The Board is responsible for the day-to-day management of the foundation. In doing so, it acts in accordance with the principles and guidelines of the Claim Code.
The composition of the Board has been deliberately designed to ensure independence and a critical approach. This applies both internally and in relation to the Supervisory Board, other stakeholders and the interests represented by the foundation. The Board members bring the expertise and experience necessary to achieve the foundation's objectives.
Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board is structured in such a way that it can fulfil its role independently and critically. Its members operate independently of one another, of the Board, of other stakeholders and of the interests the foundation represents. The Supervisory Board consists of individuals whose expertise aligns with the foundation's activities and ambitions.
The Supervisory Board oversees the strategy of the Board and the overall functioning of the foundation, including supervision of its financial management. In addition, it exercises the duties and powers assigned to it under the Claim Code and the articles of association.
Frequently Asked Questions
A collective action (also known as a "class action") is a legal procedure in which a group of people jointly represents their interests against a party that has caused them harm. Instead of filing separate claims, all cases are handled in a single proceeding.
The court decides in one ruling whether the party is liable and whether affected consumers are entitled to compensation. That ruling applies to all affected consumers, unless someone explicitly chooses not to participate.

Apple holds a monopoly over the distribution of apps on iOS and iPadOS devices. Because developers have no alternative way to reach iPhone and iPad users, they are forced to pay Apple a commission fee of up to 30% on every app sale and In-App Purchase. This often leaves developers with no choice but to pass these excessive costs on to consumers through higher prices.
